A video filmed in New York City‘s Central Park is drawing comparisons to the Astronomer CEO controversy at a Coldplay concert after social media users claimed to have identified the two lawyers featured in the clip.
In the video, Sam tells viewers, “We have another Coldplay situation on our hands,” before claiming the two lawyers “were caught in Central Park in New York City.” According to her, the pair “clearly did not realize who was recording,” adding that the footage was filmed by creator Joe Guapo and had already attracted roughly 2.9 million views.
She goes on to claim internet users quickly identified “who they are, who they work for and if they are in relationships.”
The clip quickly turned into an online search for answers
She identifies the pair by name while displaying what appear to be screenshots of their professional biographies, claiming the man is 45 years old and the woman is his 29-year-old coworker.
She adds that the woman is not in a relationship, claiming she had “just recently ended a relationship,” while alleging that the man is married to a lawyer in New York City.
The clip is brief. It shows the man and woman sitting closely together on a park bench before the man eventually turns toward the person recording.
As the clip ends, Sam suggests his expression changed after he realized he was being filmed, saying, “That’s probably why this smile quickly went to this when he realized…” before cutting back to the footage.
Much of the reaction centered on the alleged identities behind the video, with commenters jumping into speculation about the situation rather than focusing solely on what was visible in the clip.
One commenter wrote, “The wife is a divorce lawyer?? Oohh she’s gonna get evvvvvvvvverything.”
Others zeroed in on the people allegedly involved. “Of course his wife is beautiful,” one user wrote, while another compared the incident to the earlier Coldplay controversy by commenting, “its like deja vu last year all over again.”
The comparison is not entirely surprising. The Astronomer incident also began with a viral clip before growing into a broader story that ultimately resulted in an internal investigation and the CEO’s departure.
The speed at which people claimed to identify those in the Central Park video shows how quickly a viral clip can become an online investigation. Professional biographies, social media accounts, and other publicly available information are often pieced together within hours, whether or not the people involved expected that level of attention.
In this case, much of the discussion has revolved around claims circulating online rather than information confirmed by the individuals themselves.
For now, the allegations about the pair’s identities and relationship status remain those made by the video’s creator and amplified across social media. Neither person appears to have publicly addressed the claims at the time of writing.
