A confrontation inside a Fry’s grocery store in Tucson, Arizona, was posted to TikTok after creator Yasin shared footage of a dispute with an employee over a request to move his bags to the front of the store, which he believed was being applied unfairly.
The recording begins after the interaction was already underway, leaving the reason for the employee’s initial approach unclear. The footage shows the worker telling Yasin to move his bags to the front of the store or leave, explaining, “I’m asking you to put the bags in the front or leave. That’s all I’m asking you,” before warning, “If that’s a problem, I could call someone or the cops.”
The shopper questioned why he had been singled out, arguing that other shoppers appeared to be carrying bags or personal belongings without being stopped. “So it’s a problem that I have bags in the store?” he asked, adding that he had seen “multiple people in this store with purses and all kinds of stuff” who were not being told to put them away.
The exchange quickly turns into a tense back-and-forth
As the discussion continued, the employee repeatedly urged Yasin to keep his distance, telling him, “Please back away from me. Don’t, don’t, don’t walk towards me,” while maintaining that he was free to leave if he did not want to comply.
The shopper described the encounter as harassment while continuing to record, saying, “This is the harassment that people deal with. Like real talk. TikTok gonna love this.”
Near the end of the video, the disagreement becomes more heated after the employee remarks that he “can’t see.” The shopper responds by challenging the comment and insisting the employee can see what he is pointing to, before the worker replies that he “can see” and asks, “Feel better?”
The video ends with Yasin asking, “What, you tough?” as he leaves the store while the employee watches from the entrance. As with many confrontations shared on TikTok, the video became a discussion point online, with users sharing different reactions to the encounter.
Because the recording starts after the conversation was already underway, it does not establish what prompted the employee’s request, whether the store has a policy requiring certain bags to be left at the front, or whether other customers were asked to do the same. It captures only the confrontation after it had already escalated.
Commenters were divided. Some believed Yasin had been unfairly singled out. One wrote, “profiling is illegal,” while another commented, “Stay safe man.” A different user claimed to have had their own unresolved issue with the chain, writing, “I been waiting for 2 months for a response on my complaint from fry’s.”
Others turned their attention to the retailer itself. “It’s Kroger….” one commenter wrote, referring to Fry’s parent company. Not everyone agreed with the criticism, however. One viewer argued, “Nothing wrong here, many stores do not accept large bags such as backpacks.”
Large retailers sometimes set guidelines around backpacks and other personal belongings as part of their loss-prevention efforts, although those rules can vary by chain and even by individual location.
