Woman allegedly tries to pick up food parcel outside another apartment’s doorstep. Seconds later, she screams: ‘The audacity to be scared’

Everyone can see it, but no one can agree on what they're seeing.

A short security-camera clip has garnered millions of views on X, with people arguing over whether what they just watched is a theft, a mistake, or something in between.

In the video, captured by a Roku camera positioned above the stairs, we see a woman in a cap standing a few steps below a door. She has her phone in hand, looking at a bag of what’s presumably food on the floor in front of that door.

The woman looks at the door, then picks up the food and heads back down the steps. She doesn’t bolt, mind you. She is on her phone still, and takes the stairs at a normal pace, then stops and turns back toward the unit, as if double-checking something.

Then the door opens and a man walks halfway out. He shouts “Hey [expletive], gimme my food!” though the voice is somewhat muffled. The woman visibly flinches, lets out a brief scream, and says “I’m sorry” before handing the bag over. He takes it and continues to angrily shout at her as she hurries down the remaining stairs and leaves the building.

Since the footage begins with the food already sitting outside the door, there’s no record of who put it there. That, combined with other incongruous details in the video — like the woman hesitating — is why the internet can’t settle on what it shows.

Was she stealing or just confused? The internet can’t decide

Users in the comments were divided over the evidence. “This is why tip should be OPTIONAL!” one user wrote on X, implying that the woman is a delivery driver who wanted to steal the food.

“And has the audacity to be scared as if she isn’t the criminal in this scenario,” added one person.

The contradictory details should also be considered. Since the woman is in no rush and looks at the door multiple times, there’s a chance she simply thought she had the wrong door.

“I’m just happy the guy handled the situation very well,” another comment read, though whether it was sarcastic or not is anyone’s guess.

Another person had an interesting theory to tie it together. “So she delivered it, took a pic, then tried to take it? Bruh!”

If it was DoorDash, its deactivation policy lists “theft of the goods meant to be delivered” among the offenses that can get a worker removed from the platform. Failing to provide proof of delivery can lead to the same result. As for wrong deliveries, company policy states a single instance is not grounds for deactivation, but a pattern might be.

As of writing this we haven’t been able to figure it out what actually went down, nor has any delivery service weighed in, so whether it attempted theft or a genuine mix-up is impossible to say for certain.
