‘I can’t sleep’: Woman’s Dyson package is delayed at a DHL depot. Then she opens the resealed box  and gets suspicious

Temperatures are running high.

It is honestly frustrating when you open a much-awaited delivery only to find that the box contains something completely different. A London resident and TikToker, Shelen, recently shared this experience on TikTok, and it has quickly gone viral with 1.1 million views. She had ordered a brand-new Dyson Cool fan, but when DHL finally delivered the package, she was shocked to discover an old, dusty Alpine tower fan inside the resealed box instead.

The caption on her post was blunt, stating, “I CURSE YOU THIEF.” In the video, Shelen shows her viewers the Dyson Cool box before pulling out what she says she received instead, in anger. She immediately calls out the delivery company, saying, “Who? The flip at DHL opened up my Dyson Cool package, took out my Dyson, and put this in there? Who was it?”

Shelen claimed that the situation was suspicious from the start. Shelen alleged, “I knew something was wrong when I got that DHL notification saying it had arrived, but it hadn’t arrived. And then I clicked on it, and it said, ‘It’s at the depot.’ So why was it saying, ‘It’s arrived, but it’s at the depot?'” When she tried to follow up on the delivery, she claimed she was told it couldn’t be rescheduled. It was eventually delivered, but to her neighbor.

Delivered but beaten up

“I’m away. It gets delivered to my neighbour,” Shelen claims. Now, it must be noted that this story is based on Shelen’s perspective and must not be treated as verifiable fact. She alleged that when the product finally arrived, “It’s all bandaged up. Like it got a little fight. I think that’s odd. That’s odd.” Despite the external damage, she was not prepared for what was inside. Upon opening the box, she realized it was not her Dyson.

“What? This is an Alpine. You’re running a scam,” she said in the video. After wondering how this alleged swap was even prepared, she explains to her viewers why this purchase was such a big deal. She told TikTok, “I’m sweating in my house. I can’t sleep. It’s too hot in here.” She even tried using Nytol to help her sleep, but she noted, “It doesn’t work.” Her message to the courier was clear: “Get me my Dyson now, DHL, or I’ll pull up to the function.”

The community had plenty to say about the situation. One user commented, “This would ruin my whole month.” Some others speculated that DHL might not be at fault, with one commenter writing. “I reckon your neighbour might have a new Dyson fan.” Others wondered why the shipper wasn’t as careful, with one user asking, “Why did they not cover the packaging?!?!”

Another user shared a similar experience, writing, “This happened to my Sony Headphones, also with DHL. They replaced it with fcking cereals..” This is the exact problem an Amazon customer faced. When they opened their delivery for a Star Wars LEGO set, they got pasta instead

Many of her viewers kept asking for updates. When one TikToker asked, “Tell me they’re sending you a new one,” Shelen finally provided one. She wrote, “I’m getting a refund! Then gonna go buy it in person.” Unfortunately, in a different case, a TikToker was simply out of luck with no refund when he got empty boxes after a $2000 purchase.

According to DHL, if you receive a parcel in poor condition or the contents are missing, you should document everything. They recommend that customers take photos of the exterior of the box if it shows signs of compression or damage, and also take photos of the interior and the actual contents. This will then be processed and evaluated for a claim.

If a package is missing or contents are swapped, DHL suggests contacting local customer service with the 10-digit Air Waybill number. The company states they will lodge a trace to investigate the shipment’s journey through their network. This process involves checking various transit points and usually takes about 3 working days to provide an update. If the investigation confirms the loss or theft, the case is directed to the claims department for resolution.

DHL emphasizes that they operate their network independently and have standardized processes to account for cargo. While they note that a completely lost shipment is unlikely, they acknowledge that misrouting or missorting can happen.

Shelen’s reaction to the alleged theft was intense. At one point, she said, “I really hope it does explode. Hope it takes your cat with it as well.” She tells herself, “That’s a bit dark. But hey, you know what dark is? That I’m sweating in my house. I’m a Leo. I don’t feel guilt. Not. Not when this deserves, mate.”
