A Chicago woman’s attempt to drive her Ford Bronco ended in an unusually expensive footwear problem after she apparently drove over a pair of Valentino slingback pumps, leaving one shoe lodged in a tire. TikTok creator Mia (@miaquaid) shared a video showing a pump protruding from a flat tire on her vehicle. A second shoe appears to be sitting on the curb nearby.
The video caption reads, “Whoever left their @Valentino heels next to the curb, you owe me a new tire.” The footage then shows a tow truck driver examining the damaged tire before replacing it, with the shoe still visibly sticking out of the damaged tire
The unusual incident turned into a discussion about whether the damaged Valentino shoes could be worth more than the replacement tire. “Girl math says you just got Valentino heels for the price of a tire,” one commenter wrote.
The creator confirmed where the footwear ended up.
Valentino currently sells a wide range of slingback pumps through its U.S. website. Current listings include the VLogo Signature patent-leather slingback pump for $1,190, while some other slingback models cost $1,490 or $1,800. Mia confirmed in a comment that she still had both shoes in her car and said in another comment that they fit her.
Slingbacks are shoes with an open back and a strap that wraps around the heel to keep the shoe in place. Valentino’s current designs include leather and patent leather versions, with some models featuring its VLogo Signature decoration and heels measuring about 3 inches. The replacement tire, meanwhile, may not necessarily have cost less.
Firestone Complete Auto Care says budget-friendly tires can cost $50 to $150 each, while mid-range tires generally run $100 to $300 and high-end tires can cost $300 to $1,000 each. Installation and other fees can add to the final bill.
Tire Rack’s current listings for Ford Bronco models provide a more specific comparison. Several replacement tires listed for the Bronco fall between roughly $200 and $270 each, although certain larger off-road tires cost considerably more.
Still, another commenter suggested the shoes could be worth more than the tire: “probs more expensive than the tire girl! resell them get your bag.” A third commenter offered a potential solution: “clean the shoes, flip on poshmark, pays for tire.”
Meanwhile, another commenter added, “Should we not be worried about who [leaves] $1000 plus shoes on the curb?” To which someone else responded, “I was worried about the shoe owner. I hope she’s okay.”
