Woman who heard cell phone vibrating in her attic suspects someone’s living up there, but TikTok thinks her husband’s hiding something

People on TikTok are convinced the noise means something shady is going on.

Attics can be scary places. The thought of a dark space where anything could be lying in wait just above your head is somewhat terrifying, but most of the time there’s nothing to be worried about. But one woman on TikTok certainly did have something to be worried about after claiming to have heard vibrations that sounded like a cellphone coming from the attic in her home.

Kim Tuohy was alone in her craft room when she claimed to have heard a bizarre noise that appeared to be coming from the attic. The sound was a vibration which she likened to that of a cellphone buzzing as though it were ringing.

Scary attic videos are rather common on TikTok. However, unlike others, Kim wasn’t willing to risk her life to find out what was up there. Instead, she pointed her phone towards the attic entrance located directly above her head before simply saying, “Nope.” In the description, she joked, “I may be white but I’m not that white.”

However, the curiosity of the viewers had been piqued, and now people on TikTok wanted to know what was making that sound. “I’m that white, where are you?” joked one viewer. “I wanna know what it is. I’ll come over and look for you.” Another suggested calling the police.

There was also plenty of speculation over what the source of the sound actually was, with one person claiming it could have been a squatter hiding up there. Others wondered if it was a demon. However, the most popular theory was that Kim’s husband was hiding a secret second phone up there: “Are you married? If you are, he has a secret phone that’s hidden in the attic,” advised one person. “Either you have a squatter OR your husband hides his burner phone up there,” reads another comment.

The attic investigation

Shortly afterward, Kim returned with a deeper investigation into the noise in the attic. She was joined by her husband in the video, who helped her record. Kim poked the phone up through the attic entrance and tried to capture anything that might indicate someone was hiding up there. While she did spot what appeared to be a blanket of some sort with a camo pattern, there wasn’t anything too bizarre hiding in the dark.

Many viewers were still convinced that the husband was hiding something: “Girl you told him? He already retrieved it. Never tell the man he’s caught,” wrote one person who suspected the alleged vibrating phone had belonged to the husband. “This did not give us a real test of whether husband has a secret cell phone.”

Others believed that the camo blanket may have been proof that somebody was living up there. A few even shared screenshots supposedly showing a face leering out of the darkness. While Kim has continued to document her attic investigations, there has been no answer on what the sound really was so far.
