Dave Portnoy shared footage of his staff fighting a delivery driver at Barstool’s NYC office. Then he drags Mamdani into it: ‘All another day’

The police arrived and made an arrest

Dave Portnoy posted a video on social media showing an altercation at Barstool Sports’ New York City office involving staff and a food delivery driver. He stated that a female employee named Gia Mariano got into a fight with an Uber Eats driver in the hallway over her order.

Portnoy said the situation escalated after the company’s security guard, Dan, went into the hall to tell the driver to leave. He claimed the driver then attacked Dan and “beat him up pretty good.”

Other staff members stepped in during the incident, according to Portnoy’s post. He wrote that police later arrived and arrested the driver. Portnoy also linked Zohran Mamdani to the incident.

Portnoy described the confrontation and closed with a reference to the mayor

In his post, Portnoy detailed the sequence of events. He said, “We had a crazy scene today at Barstool World Hq. An uber eats driver got in a fight with Gia in the hallway over her order. Our security guard Dan went into the hall to tell the guy to leave and he attacked him. Beat him up pretty good. @stoolsalesguy saved the day pulling him off. Then the rest of the troops rushed in followed by Cody and Travy for the Boys to help out.”

Portnoy added that the staff reviewed security footage afterward. He focused on how one employee handled the situation, writing, “Now what we got to pay very close attention to in the security footage we pulled is how @TomScibelli (in red) handled this explosive situation. Bravery like this can not go unnoticed. Totally secured and locked down the office.”

He stated that the police showed up and arrested the driver. Portnoy also said Danny may need a few stitches and a couple of beers. He closed the post by describing the events as “All another day” at the Stool and added, “Shoutout Mandami’s NYC.”

Portnoy founded Barstool Sports in 2004 and had previously discussed considering a run against politicians like Mamdani. The 49-year-old shared the video while linking the incident to the city’s leadership under Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

According to the Mayor’s office, cited by Brobible, New York City’s overall major crime rate dropped by nearly 6 percent in the first half of 2026. Officials reported that the city also reached historic lows for murders and shootings during that period.

The Mayor’s office stated that robbery declined 11.9 percent, grand larceny dipped 4.2 percent, burglary dropped 15.8 percent, and grand larceny auto fell 9.7 percent in the first six months of the year. Transit crime was also down 0.6 percent over the same timeframe.

Mamdani has drawn attention in other areas as well, including securing World Cup tickets from FIFA. Portnoy’s post centered on the actions of his staff during the incident at the office. He highlighted the responses of several employees who intervened after the security guard was involved.
