Two men offered to buy women drinks in Mykonos. Then they allegedly vanished and left their own tab on the bill too: ‘Flew home broke’

A TikTok user posting as @alienbestino shared a video built around a still photo of a restaurant receipt from Mykonos. On-screen text in the video described an encounter with two men who, the poster said, offered to pay for drinks and then left.

The overlay on the image stated, “when random guys on vacation said ‘girls, drinks are on us’ we ordered the most expensive drinks they left… and we got the bill with THEIR drinks too.” The poster indicated the group then paid the full amount shown on the slip.

The caption on the TikTok post read, “paid it, packed our bags, flew home broke.” The video had drawn 659,200 views, 34,400 likes, and more than 450 comments.

The posted receipt listed two 180-euro liquor bottles and a total of €1,000,61

The image in the video showed a paper receipt headed “RECEIPT” and printed with the name “MYKONOS RESTAURANT – BAR – BEACH CLUB.” A glass with a drink and mint leaves appeared to the right of the slip, with another glass partly visible on the left.

The itemized list on the receipt included two Aperol Spritz drinks at €22.00 each for a line total of €44.00, one Mojito at €24.00, and one Pina Colada at €24.00. It also listed one Grey Goose 0.7L bottle at €180.00 and one Bombay Gin 0.7L bottle at €180.00.

Further lines showed four Red Bulls at €7.00 each for €28.00, four still waters of 1 liter at €10.00 each for €40.00, two sparkling waters of 1 liter at €10.00 each for €20.00, one lemonade at €9.00, and one ice charge at €5.00. Below those items, the receipt displayed three additional figures that appeared as 549,00, 82,00, and 109,26. The final total printed on the slip was €1,000,61.

The poster presented the receipt as the bill the group paid after the two men left. The overlay text claimed the tab included drinks the men had ordered as well as the ones the women had chosen. Disputes over unexpected bar tabs can escalate quickly, such as when a couple accused a restaurant of racism after being charged full price for drinks once happy hour ended.

Several commenters focused on the printed total and on whether the image looked genuine. One commenter wrote, “How does the total add up to 1000?” Another wrote, “Nobody notices the fake AI bill?”

Other viewers treated the story as a reversal of the original offer. One commenter wrote, “those dudes are absolute legends.” Another wrote, “oh no..taste of your own medicine.”

A further comment pointed back at the overlay itself. One commenter wrote, “‘we ordered the most expensive drinks’ maybe thats the reason…” Another wrote, “so karma for taking too much advantage?” Scrutiny of bill totals is not new, such as when a man in Texas was charged a different tip amount after paying with cash.
