Michael Shannon Doesn’t Say “Kneel Before Zod” In Man Of Steel

If there's one thing that Superman megavillian General Zod is renowened for, it's his super-breath ability. Oh, and his iconic catchphrase, of course: "Kneel before Zod." When you're a proper bad guy and you take your duties seriously, having people kneel before you is absolutely the ultimate way to prove your worth. It's so bloody degrading.

If there’s one thing that Superman megavillian General Zod is renowned for, it’s his ability to use super-breath. Oh, and his iconic catchphrase, of course, “Kneel before Zod.” When you’re a proper bad guy and you take your duties seriously, having people kneel before you is absolutely the way to prove your worth. It’s so bloody degrading.

But Michael Shannon, who plays General Zod in Zack Synder‘s upcoming Man Of Steel, has revealed that his character won’t be uttering the immortal line in the movie reboot: “I don’t say that in the movie,” he said. Boo, Michael Shannon! Boo you and your bluntless!

Originally made incredibly famous by Terence Stamp (who played Zod in Superman II), it now appears that having your enemies bow before you is a little dated. The line has been a well-deserved source of parody over the years, given that, hey, “Kneel before Zod” is hilariously camp and just… well, weird, isn’t it?

Man Of Steel also stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Kevin Costner.

What do you think about Shannon’s dismissal of the line? Is it a good thing that he won’t be uttering it?
