Sony decided to go a completely different direction with their live-action PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale ad in Russia, and as a result ended up with something vastly superior to the underwhelming commercial that we got in the West.

While we were treated to a boring ad that mixed live actors and CGI, Russian gamers got an All-Stars Battle Royale TV spot that features low-budget cosplay characters, humor, actual gameplay footage, and it highlights the Vita cross-play feature. Honestly, it is one of the best video game TV ads that I’ve seen in a long time.

It actually reminds me a lot of the original Super Smash Bros. (N64) TV ad, which is a bit ironic considering the similarities between the two games.

Check out the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Russian TV ad below, and look for the title to launch on the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita on November 20, 2012 in North America.
