83rd Academy Award Nominations Predictions

Awards and Oscars are a funny thing. I’m not always sure how they will turn out and you can only have an educated guess. So with the Oscar nominations imminent and the Gloden Globes just gone, I’m going to try and position in place who I think will pick up nods at the forthcoming ceremony. Firstly, I’d just like to say that this is who I think will be nominated and not who I would like to see nominated (Although Lesley Manville’s nod is purely wishful thinking on my part). Also I’ve marked the ones I think will win with  (*) if of course they even turn up in the Oscar nominations.

I would love to see Danny Boyle nominated for Best Director for his extraordinary work in making 127 Hours the experience it was, there is still a possibility of nomination after securing one at the BAFTAs. I would also like to continue to stand up for the cast of Inception who will sadly go unrecognised, and although I think Melissa Leo will win, I’d love to see Hailee Steinfeld take the Oscar for her truly remarkable performance in the Coen bros wonderful True Grit.

Lastly, keep in mind, this isn’t every category, just what I consider the major ones. The nominations are announced on the 25th January, with the ceremony on the 27th February.
