Ben Savage & Danielle Fishel Sign On For Boy Meets World Sequel

Recently we brought you the bizarre but somewhat smile-inducing news that classic TV sitcom Boy Meets World would be getting a sequel/spin-off in the creatively titled Girl Meets World. Recently we brought you the bizarre but somewhat smile-inducing news that classic TV sitcom Boy Meets World would be getting a sequel/spin-off in the creatively titled Girl Meets World. And though nobody was quite sure just how to take that news without thinking about how old George Feeney might be nowadays, it’s been announced that both Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have signed on to reprise their roles as quirky couple Cory and Topanga.

Given that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel haven’t done much since the show came to a heart-wrenching close twelve years ago, it’s not too surprising that they’ve jumped in bed with the new project. And now that their characters are done worrying about normal everyday things like joining cults and Eric’s sneak attacks, the plot will focus on the couple as they attempt to raise their 13-year-old daughter the old-fashioned way: with a whole host of friendly neighbours, family members and teachers, presumably (c’mon, this is TV).

No mention yet as to whether bad boy Rider Strong will be back to reprise his role as Cory’s pal Shawn Hunter, though I think that pretty much every Boy Meets World fan imagined that Shawn would go nuts and eventually drink himself into an early grave or something. He was always that sort of boy.
