Sony has finally reported their Black Friday results, revealing that they sold over 525,000 PlayStation 3 consoles and 160,000 PS Vita handheld systems in the U.S. between the 18th and 24th of November.

Sales of software and peripherals were up 9% year-over-year for Sony, however, the company saw an even bigger increase with PlayStation 3 bundles which rose 15% over last year. Sony noted that the 250GB PS3 Uncharted Dual Pack and inFAMOUS Collection bundles for $199 were extremely popular and “quickly sold out”. The PS Vita‘s Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified, and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes bundles were also said to have sold out at retailers nationwide.

For comparison, Nintendo reported selling a total of 1.2 million hardware systems (400K Wii U, 300K Wii, 275K DS, and 250K 3DS) over Black Friday, while Microsoft reported 750K in Xbox 360 consoles sales.

Sony also noted that PlayStation Plus subscriptions increased a whopping 259% over last year’s Black Friday, and customer satisfaction rates for the service are “above 95%”. Considering all that PS Plus gives subscribers in the way of free content, it really makes you wonder about the 5% who are amazingly unsatisfied with the optional service.

Jack Tretton, the president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, commented on the Black Friday results, saying:

“We’re very pleased with the Black Friday sales results, especially the incredible reception for the PS3 and PS Vita bundles. The demand was very strong which quickly depleted our inventory across retailers nationwide. The PlayStation brand generated significant revenue and year-over-year growth at retail because of our focus on what gamers love most in combining amazing hardware with great games and digital entertainment.”
