After two films which celebrate the triumph of the human spirit with the Oscar-baiting Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours, director Danny Boyle and writer Simon Beaufoy are ready to team up again, only this time on a horror film. Beaufoy revealed in an interview that he’s been working on a script about werewolves in L.A. which is an adaptation of a poem called Sharp Teeth by Tony Barlow.

It would be set in East L.A. and Beaufoy is already in the research phase, a reporter has said that he said he’d been taking ride alongs on nights and talking to those arrested. The poem is a mashup between horror and gangland violence, based around a trio of thugs who turn into feral dogs at night. Boyle brilliantly reinvented the wheel with his zombie pic 28 Days Later and I’d love to see what he’d do with werewolves.

Of course this only just in the pipeline, Beaufoy will just be in the scripting phase and Boyle is busy preparing his Nick Dear scripted stage version of Frankenstein and prepping the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony, so it’s likely we won’t see this for a while.
