Just days after confirming that Dawnguard will launch for the PS3 version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim early next year, Bethesda Softworks has announced that they fully intended to continue working towards releasing both the Dawnguard and Hearthfire DLC packs on Sony’s console.

Bethesda made the announcement on their blog yesterday, saying:

“…  we’re hard at work to make this content [the Dragonborn downloadable content] available early next year on PS3 and PC. On PS3 in particular, we turned our attention to Dragonborn, as we thought it was the best content to release first, and we didn’t want folks to wait longer. Once it’s ready to go for everyone, we’ll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3. Each one takes a lot of time and attention to work well in all circumstances and all combinations of DLC.”

The publisher did not reveal when they expect to be able to launch the long overdue downloadable content packs on the PS3, but promised to announce “release timing and pricing” as soon as they can.

After all the initial problems with the PlayStation 3 version of The Elder Scrolls’ V: Skyrim — which made the game unplayable for many people after a certain number of hours — I’m (pleasantly) surprised the Betheada has continued their efforts to get any of the DLC released on Sony’s machine. Time (and sales) will tell if it was worth all the effort, however, you have to give them credit for keeping the dream alive.
