Rumor: Next Assassin’s Creed Set In South America

In some circles, one of the more popular internet pastimes to partake in after the release of an Assassin's Creed title is to track down rumors and cryptic statements from Ubisoft employees that provide hints as to where/when the next game in the series will take place. In some circles, one of the more popular internet pastimes to partake in after the release of an Assassin’s Creed title is to track down rumors and cryptic statements from Ubisoft employees that provide hints as to where/when the next game in the series will take place. With Assassin’s Creed III now out the door the AC rumor mill has officially kicked off and is suggesting that the next game in the series will be set in South America.

Courtesy of a GameSpot translation, the website Techtudo is reporting that Ubisoft Brazil managing director Bertrand Chaverot has stated that the next Assassin’s Creed game will take place in his home country. Chaverot did not reveal when the game would take place, who the protagonist will be, or any other details in the interview. All we know from the translation is that the unannounced game will supposedly take place in Brazil.

It should also be noted that aside from Bertrand Chaverot nobody in the greater Ubisoft company has said one word on this subject, so take it with a grain of salt.

Supporting the idea of a Brazil-based Assassin’s Creed outing is the fact that AC III features a few missions in South America. With that in mind, the idea of a spin-off title featuring Connor way, way down south murdering Templars doesn’t seem like a bunch of crazy talk.

On the other hand, the majority of these AC rumors usually don’t pan out. Prior to the announcement of Assassin’s Creed III we heard reports that the game might be set in the Civil War, or in World War II, or that it might feature a female protagonist… Well, it turns out there was some truth to that last one.

For now, consider this talk of an Assassin’s Creed game set in Brazil as a rumor and we will let you know if anything comes out of it.
