Anthony Mackie Joins Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

The adaptation of the quirky novel, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is steaming ahead. Benjamin Walker was just over 2 weeks ago cast as Lincoln and now two more actors join the fold. Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper have signed on for roles in the film

The adaptation of the quirky novel, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is steaming ahead. Benjamin Walker was just over 2 weeks ago cast as Lincoln and now two more actors join the fold. Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper have signed on for roles in the film, which is to be directed by Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Tim Burton.

Dominic Cooper, who featured in Sundance favourite The Devil’s Double and soon to be seen in Captain America: First Avenger, will play the role of Henry Sturgess, Sturgess saved Lincoln’s life when he battled a vampire as a teenager. Sturgess then trains Lincoln in combat, and sends him out to hunt and kill vampires. The role was previously linked to the likes of Joaquin Phoenix. Anthony Mackie, star of The Hurt Locker, will play the character of William Steward a friend of Lincoln’s and fellow vampire hunter. Mackie’s a talented guy and one of Hollywood’s most wanted, we will see him soon in The Adjustment Bureau.

The film is likely to spring into production soon and is set for a June 2012 release date.
