In a recent interview with MTV, the director of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, Robert Rodriguez, enthusiastically shed some light on the upcoming movie. He talked about the script, the progress of the film’s production, the return of an actor to his former role and the addition of a new one.

What we know now is that the crime-thriller will consist of four short stories, two of which will be adapted from the graphic novel, A Dame to Kill For and Just Another Saturday Night, and two completely original stories.

A Dame to Kill For will be the prequel to The Big Fat Kill story from the first movie, which revolved around Dwight McCarthy. The former will delve deeper into Dwight’s past and the results of his relationship with Ava Lord. Although no actress has been confirmed for the role of Ava, Josh Brolin will portray Dwight in this installment.

One of the original storylines will involve the character John Hartigan. Though his character was deceased in the movie’s predecessor, we’re excited to inform you that Bruce Willis will be reprising his role as the altruistic cop in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Following That Yellow Bastard, Rodriguez’s new plot will focus on Nancy’s escape from Roark’s men and the original storyline will feature Willis’ character in flashbacks. In addition, he will also make a small appearance in Just Another Saturday Night, which is centered on Mickey Rourke’s character, Marv.

Set to join Willis is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays an original character, called Johnny. Johnny will be the protagonist of one of Rodriguez’s new stories titled The Long, Bad Night. Check out what the director has to say about the character below.

“It’s a new character. He plays a gambler, a very cocky gambler, who comes in and tries to beat the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game. The story’s called ‘The Long, Bad Night.’ He beats the wrong guy in a game and bad stuff happens to him.”

With Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Rodriguez also promises the view of Basin City and its inhabitants on a 3D screen.

“We’re playing with stuff because that’s a very two dimensional world and to see that stylization in 3D, it’ll blow people’s minds. 3D hasn’t been used like this yet.”

With the film’s production underway, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is scheduled for release in theaters on October 4th, 2013. As always, we’ll keep you posted on anymore updates as they arise.
