Batman Will Get Another Solo Film In 2017

According to Batman On Film, who can usually be trusted, the "new" Batman will appear in 2015's Justice League before he gets his own solo film in, wait for it, 2017. Yes, that's right, we will be graced with another solo outing for the caped crusader in about four years. Of course, no details on anything at all have been revealed, but the website's source says 2017 is the earliest that the studio will put out another solo Bat film.

According to Batman On Film, who can usually be trusted, the “new” Batman will appear in 2015’s Justice League before he gets his own solo film in, wait for it, 2017. Yes, that’s right, we will be graced with another solo outing for the caped crusader in about four years. Of course, no details on anything at all have been revealed, but the website’s source says 2017 is the earliest that the studio will put out another solo Bat film.

Now, as Batman on Film points out, if Justice League tanks, it could spell the end of this proposed solo outing. While they may have a point, I can’t see Justice League being a letdown, DC and Warner Bros. know how much is on the line. And even if it doesn’t stand up to The Avengers, Batman is a strong enough character that one misstep wouldn’t tarnish his reputation completely. Or at least we hope not. After all, he’s had some misfires before (Batman & Robin, anyone?) and he’s been able to bounce back.

At this time, we don’t have any official confirmation from the studio on this just yet, just an unnamed source. That being said, Batman On Film has been pretty good in the past with these types of rumors and it would make sense as well. Five years may be a bit too soon for a Batman reboot but six or seven years seems fair, and the source did say 2017 is the earliest, meaning it could be 2018 or 2019 before we see Bat on the big screen again in his own film.

What I’m most interested in though is who will play the iconic character. I mean, 2015 isn’t THAT far away, and the studio is surely eyeing potential candidates for the role in Justice League at this point. I’m curious as to who they have their eye on. Which poor soul will have to fill Christian Bale’s shoes? We thought of ten candidates who may be able to do the job but can anyone really do better than Bale?

What do you think? Ready for a new Batman film?
