This week brought a lot of major movie and gaming news that warranted two major topic discussions on the podcast. Most obviously, the official announcement that J.J. Abrams will indeed be directing Star Wars Episode VII is a major piece of news worth covering in-depth, and we devote the back-half of this week’s show to discussing what Abrams’ hiring could mean for Star Wars (and, of course, Star Trek).
But Nintendo also dropped some pretty big news this week in their latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, showcasing plans for new 3D Mario, Zelda, and Yoshi titles, plus a totally unexpected reveal of Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei! We found these announcements even more interesting than the Star Wars news, and our discussion of Nintendo and their current place in the gaming industry takes up the lion’s share of the episode.
