300 Sequel Offered To Guy Ritchie

In some surprising news, Warner Bros. have offered the directing job on the 300 sequel, Xerxes, to director Guy Ritchie. Most people expected director Zack Snyder to be the one who would take on the job, seeing as he directed 300. But with Superman currently on his plate, it seems as if the studio has gone elsewhere. Apparently Warner Bros. wants Snyder to focus his full attention on Superman, which is why they are offering this gig to Ritchie. Insiders also say that the studio isn't too hot on Snyder right now. His last two films didn't do that well (Watchmen and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole) and his upcoming film, Sucker Punch is testing pretty poorly as well. Ritchie, who is currently at work on Sherlock Holmes 2: The Game Of Shadows, hasn't accepted the offer, but it has been made.

Insiders also say that the studio isn’t too hot on Snyder right now. His last two films didn’t do that well (Watchmen and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole) and his upcoming film, Sucker Punch is testing pretty poorly as well. Ritchie, who is currently at work on Sherlock Holmes 2: The Game Of Shadows, hasn’t accepted the offer, but it has been made. So now it’s up to Ritchie, will he take the project or will he pass? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. Personally though, I’d still like to see Snyder take it. He did a good job with 300 and despite the fact that he may be on a bit of a cold streak, I think he could still do great things with Xerxes.
