Today’s award for Hollywood’s most shameful move of the day goes to this one, ladies and gentlemen.

As if a film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey isn’t enough suffering for moviegoers everywhere, the powers that be have latched onto another Twilight fan fiction novel and have tapped it for film adaptation. The novel in question is titled Beautiful Bastard, which hits bookstores today.

I betcha thought we were done with Twilight back in November when Breaking Dawn – Part 2 came out, didn’t you? Not that this is Twilight per se, but it’s more than enough to make many a moviegoer squirm with discomfort and roll their eyes.

Written by Christina Hobbs, and finding a ton of success online, the novel follows “an MBA student who begins an affair with a media mogul boss at the company where she interns.” Sound familiar? It should. It’s almost identical to Fifty Shades of Grey. But then again, if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it, right?

Now, here’s the kicker, the man behind this whole project, the guy with the producer hat, is Jeremy Bolt, who has an illustrious resume featuring films like the Resident Evil movies, Death Race, The Hole etc. This one just has success written all over it, doesn’t it?

Ok, all kidding aside, Beautiful Bastard will probably make a ton of money because desperate housewives and teenage girls eat this stuff up. And plus, who doesn’t enjoy watching beautiful people have hot sex in movies? Then again, when Hollywood has tried edgy sex films in the past, they’ve usually tanked, so who knows? This is Twilight related though, so that alone spells success, or at least you’d think.

I haven’t read Beautiful Bastard (and even if I had I wouldn’t admit it), so I can’t comment too much more on this one but it seems like another quick cash grab for those involved. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, I mean, who doesn’t like easy and quick money? But really, has Hollywood run so dry of new ideas that they’re dipping into Twilight fan fiction for inspiration? Is that really where we are headed? If so, we’re in for a rough ride, folks.

What do you, dear reader, make of all this? Have you read Beautiful Bastard? Let us know in the comments section below. It’s ok, we won’t judge you. Ok, maybe we will, but just a bit.
