With Valentine’s Day just behind us, the red band trailer for About Last Night is already preparing us for next year’s Valentine. Michael Ealy, Regina Hall and Kevin Hart, who all starred in last year’s Think Like A Manare reuniting for Steve Pink’s upcoming rendition of the 1986 film with the same name which starred Rob Lowe and Demi Moore.

The romantic comedy is an adaptation of David Mamet’s 1974 play, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, which follows a couple in Los Angeles who develop a serious relationship from a one-night stand. The 1986 film really showcased the trials of a relationship and examined the meaning of commitment. Despite the plot’s predictability, the adaptation excelled in its portrayal of what it truly meant to be in love.

With the About Last Night red band trailer, it’s hard to determine if the movie focuses on what really made the 1986 a great romantic comedy. Though it’s too early to discern how Pink might approach the adaptation. So far, the preview seems to lean more on the comedic side. Hopefully, the finished work will portray some of the strong elements that made the 1986 movie to stand out.

In any case, it will be great seeing Kevin Hart in another movie. The actor is particularly versed at comedies. Additionally, Steve Pink is good at directing comedies, he’s shown that with Hot Tub Time Machine, which delivered a warm, funny film. So at the very least, we should be ready to laugh.

About Last Night’s script is penned by Leslye Headland, who directed last year’s Bachelorette featuring Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan and Isle Fisher.

The movie will hit theaters on February 14th, 2014. Until then, check out the trailer below and let us know your thoughts.
