Horror legend David Cronenberg is busy finishing up his Freud/Jung psychological period drama A Dangerous Method but he is also prepping his next venture, an adaptation of novel Cosmopolis. Casting is underway and now French actors Juliette Binoche and Mathieu Amalric have joined Paul Giamatti and Robert Pattinson for unknown roles in the film. The film is an adaptation of Dom DeLillo’s novel about:
24 hours in the life of a newly married billionaire Eric Packer (Pattinson) as he cheats on his wife, is pursued by a stalker, gets attacked by a protester and gradually loses his entire fortune over the course of a single day.
There have been troubles surrounding this already. Originally Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard were signed to be the leads, but then Farrell dropped out and was replaced with Robert Pattinson. Knowing it wouldn’t be convincing to see Pattinson and Cotillard playing a married couple, Cotillard left and was apparently Keira Knightley filled her shoes. That was later denied by her reps so now there are holes to film. So there are still a few roles to fill, other news on the project is that Cronenberg regulars Peter Suschitzsky and Howard Shore have returned as cinematographer and composer, filming begins in May in Toronto.
