A new poster has arrived for Iron Man 3 today, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in his beloved suit with the rumoured Iron Legion behind him.
For those who haven’t been keeping up with the speculation, apparently the film will see Stark using his new Extremis abilities and his Mark 47 armour to control his own army of Iron Man suits, which he has named the Iron Legion.
For those unfamiliar with the comics, Extremis is “a nanotechnological virus giving Tony the ability to telepathically control an “army” of his Iron Man suits.” While it’s tough to make out which armour these Iron Legion members are wearing, some are speculating that we’ll see some new suits being donned by them, with recent rumours pointing to the Deep Space Suit or the Hulkbuster suit making an appearance.
Judging by the poster, Stark seems to have lost control of his suits and looks pretty beaten down, likely at the hands of Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin. Of course, the poster begs the question, if Tony has lost control of the suits, who is controlling them? And better yet, what does that person intend to do with them?
From all that we’ve seen (trailers, photos and posters), it seems that Stark is certainly facing quite a challenge in the film and will likely be up against his toughest foe yet. The promotional campaign is quickly ramping up for Marvel’s upcoming entry into their ever growing universe and so far, we like what we see.
