Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler Returns In X-Men: Days Of Future Past

While I was left unimpressed by two out of three installments of the original chronological X-Men franchise films, my heart did indeed do a leap of joy for X-Men: First Class. With just about everybody signing on for the sequel, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, we’re gearing up for one hell of a film. Now we can add Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler to the list of people coming back for the sequel.

The list of cast members is already quite impressive and now, we can add Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler to the list of people set to return to the parts they originated.

Alan Cumming was one of the more interesting additions to pop up in X2, so it’s nice to see him return for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. He joins the incredible cast list of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Hugh Jackman. That’s pretty much an Oscar party list right there. The only heroes it currently leaves out are James Marsden and Famke Janssen. I will not hold my breath for Marsden, who got the short end of the stick in the last X-Men series, but why not Janssen? What’s she been up to recently?

How Brian Singer and company plan to mesh the two casts together is something else entirely. There has been speculation that there must be a time travel sequence and a meeting at least of McAvoy and Stewart, as the younger and older Professor Xaviers. But no one seems to know how all of this is going to work. It is called X-Men: Days Of Future Past, though, so the, uh, future and the past have to meet, right?

Personally, I just want to see all these people on the same screen together. I also want to see a gravitas-off between Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellan. I really do not care how they get them there. They could read from the phone book for all I care.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past will hit theatres on July 18, 2014. Let us know what you think about the latest addition to the cast list in the comments!
