This week the first trailer for The Wolverine will finally hit the web and theaters, but in the meantime we’ve got a new teaser for the film showing the first footage of Hugh Jackman in his next appearance as the titular character.

The first thing about the teaser that catches me off guard is the odd vertical aspect ratio that it’s delivered in. That aside, there really isn’t anything too revealing in this footage. All we get is a whole lot of steel on adamantium, sounding more like something out of The Three Musketeers than a superhero flick, and Jackman giving his trademark Wolverine yell. Still, even with the lack of revealing material, it’s great to finally see footage from this film.

Of course, this is merely a snippet of the footage that we’ll get to see this week. As director James Mangold Tweeted, this 6 second “Tweazer” is a preview to the 20 second tease of the teaser, and then we can see the “full teaser” on Wednesday.

In case you aren’t quite ready for footage from the film, there’s also two new posters for the film and an assortment of new images too, courtesy of EW. Unfortunately, both the posters are a little cheesy when compared with the rest of the promotion for the film, which is very disappointing. The minimalist poster released last year is one of the most beautiful pieces of film art we’ve seen in a long time, but these posters look more like something advertising a crummy arcade than something worthy of Wolverine.

The images are much better than the posters, but still not horribly revealing. We get some good looks at both Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova) and Yukio (Rila Fukushima), which is new, but other than that, nothing groundbreaking regarding Wolverine himself.

Check out the teaser for The Wolverine below, then have a look at the posters and the stills. After that, let us know what you think in the comments section.
