While some speculate that the role of Pyro is being recast (he was previously played by Aaron Stanford in X2), we believe the Mexican actor will end up playing the Brazilian mutant Sunspot, who has been a member of the New Mutants, X-Force and Young X-Men in the comic books, but has recently joined the Avengers in the aftermath of the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline.

Canto might be a good fit for the role – he’s an up-and-coming actor who currently shines in Fox’s The Following, and does not really seem like the kind of actor who would ruin a movie just by showing up in it, so we’re not particularly against writer/director Bryan Singer’s decision to include him in the film.

Besides, he is unlikely to get much screen time given the tremendous cast Singer has assembled — so far, there are two actors playing Professor X (James McAvoy and Sir Patrick Stewart) and two playing Magneto (Michael Fassbender and Sir Ian McKellen), while A-Listers such as Jennifer Lawrence and Hugh Jackman are confirmed to star, and we’re not even counting the rest of the cast, which includes returnees Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult and Academy Award winner Anna Paquin. Omar Sy and Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage, who were cast in unspecified roles, are new additions to the franchise.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will be released on July 18, 2014. Are you looking forward to seeing the excellent cast assembled together on screen? Let us know in the comments below.
