First Look At Ellen Page As Kitty Pryde In X Men: Days Of Future Past

Director Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter for the second time this week to tease fans over the currently-in-production X Men: Days Of Future Past. Seems he got the hint that a photo of the back of Wolverine's head was akin to a teaser trailer teaser as he's managed to capture his actor's face this time. In this latest photo, posted on the director's Twitter we get a look at Ellen Page in costume as Kitty Pryde.

Director Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter for the second time this week to tease fans over the currently-in-production X Men: Days Of Future Past. Seems he got the hint that a photo of the back of Wolverine’s head was akin to a teaser trailer teaser as he’s managed to capture his actor’s face this time. In this latest photo, posted on the director’s Twitter we get a look at Ellen Page in costume as Kitty Pryde.

Also known as Shadowcat, Pryde’s mutant ability of phasing enables her to “phase” the material of her body and other objects so she can walk through walls. This ability comes in handy when she wishes to render her enemies’ weapons inert. No innuendo, please. We’re not game for smutty speculation. She looks suitably badass in this first photo, donning steampunk-esque leathers and a scowl.

Page reprises her role from X-Men: The Last Stand alongside her fellow castmates and newbies to the franchise introduced in X-Men: First Class;  Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Hugh Jackman, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is based on the storyline which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and # 142 back in 1981. The film’s official synopsis which reveals that “the X-Men must travel in time to change a major historical event that could globally impact on man and mutant kind,” certainly corroborates the original comic plotting.  Time travel is a major part of the story, as an alternate future was carved out for the mutants in which they become actively hunted by Sentinels. Stemming from the Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants who kill a senator, the X-Men must put a stop to it before they get their asses kicked, pal.

As the flick combines both young and old versions of characters, there’s gonna be some awesome Grandfather Paradox-type shenanigans kicking off. Brilliant.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is scheduled for release on July 18th, 2014.
