Simon Pegg Joins Kill Me Three Times

Simon Pegg has been quite busy as of late. Simon Pegg has been quite busy as of late. Not only is he starring in Edgar Wright’s epic pub crawl film The World’s End, but he is also reprising his role as Montgomery Scott in Star Trek Into Darkness. Now it’s been announced that he’s been cast in an unspecified role in Australian thriller Kill Me Three Times, from Red Dog director Kriv Stenders.

The film will be about a young woman whose will is tested as she’s linked to several crimes in an Australian town, such as murder and blackmail. Sounds exciting enough. However, the aforementioned British actor will most likely end up playing a supporting role, although director Stenders deemed the part “delicious” and “an exciting surprise for audiences.” Well, if you say so…

Pegg rose to fame due to his notable performances in Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, but still hasn’t managed to score any starring roles in Hollywood, except for playing Sydney a.k.a. Toby Young on How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (but that doesn’t really count, does it?) and the vastly underrated, little remembered Paul.

Lucky for him, he’s already worked with famed directors Steven Spielberg and Brad Bird in The Adventures of Tintin and Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol, respectively, so he’s probably knowledgeable about the ins-and-outs of big-budget productions, which truthfully makes his choice to join the cast of a low-key Australian film a bold move.

It will probably be alright, though. The film’s international pre-sales in Cannes are being handled by Cargo Entertainment, and company CEO Marina Grasic was quick to sing praises to Pegg’s casting.

“Simon Pegg is not only a recognized and loved actor but he also is an extremely talented and versatile performer who will bring a special touch to the role.”

Principal photography for Kill Me Three Times will begin on September 16th in Western Australia.
