Henry Cavill Wants A Superman/Batman Crossover

Everyone's excited about the prospect of a Justice League film, and why wouldn't they be? However, DC Comics and Warner Bros. are having a hard time putting together what fans need and deserve from a movie based around the Justice League of America. Still, that hasn't stopped Man of Steel star Henry Cavill from being open about his desire to star in a World's Finest (Superman & Batman) movie.

Everyone’s excited about the prospect of a Justice League film, and why wouldn’t they be? However, DC Comics and Warner Bros. are having a hard time putting together what fans need and deserve from a movie based around the Justice League of America. Still, that hasn’t stopped Man of Steel star Henry Cavill from being open about his desire to star in a World’s Finest (Superman & Batman) movie.

During an interview with SFX (via /Film), the actor talked up the aforementioned idea. He said:

I think it would be really interesting with the age-old Batman/Superman conflict because they are two different sides of the same coin and their methods are entirely different. And I think it would actually make for an interesting story as to why, first of all, they were going head to head and how. I think that would make a great story.

I’ll have to agree with Cavill on this one — that is, if they found a decent and adequate director who had a solid script to work with. Otherwise, the film would be doomed, and everyone would hate Warner Bros. (which is probably why the studio allegedly rejected screenwriter Will Beall’s first draft for the Justice League film) and DC Comics, too.

Anyway, this is just Henry Cavill’s idea. He’s only an actor, and he has absolutely no say in the matter (unless he threatens to quit and Warner Bros. decide they can’t make JL without him), but it’s fun to think about, isn’t it? Maybe it would work best after Justice League is completed, and it would heavily depend upon that movie’s critical and commercial success. Back in 2007, a poster for a movie with a similar premise could be spotted in I Am Legend, but it was nothing but an easter egg.

Man of Steel will hit theaters on June 14th, 2013. Tell us, what do you think of a Batman & Superman film?
