Nintendo announced today during their E3 2013 Nintendo Direct presentation, that the remastered The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will launch for the Wii U sometime this October.

Aside from the release window announcement, Satoru Iwata also revealed that Nintendo is altering the “Tingle Tuner” functionality that the original GameCube title had with the Game Boy Advance. Since the Wii U is not capable of linking up with the GBA, the feature in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will be titled “Tingle Bottle,” and it will make the game compatible with the Wii U Miiverse.

Once players find Tingle in the remastered game, they will gain access to the Tingle Bottle. The item will allow them to write messages using the Gamepad and then send them out to sea. These Miiverse messages — which have the option of including screenshots taken with Link’s in-game camera — will eventually wash up on the shores of other players’ games.

Finally, Nintendo has released a new E3 2013 trailer for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, which is embedded below. The game looks stunning running on the Wii U in beautiful 1080p, and will surely be a treat for newcomers and those who fondly remember the original classic.
