Just in case you didn’t know that the big-budget action flick The Lone Ranger was coming out in just a few weeks, today we have a plethora of goodies having to do with the upcoming film.

First up are a pair of featurettes, one giving us a brief glimpse into the actors’ cowboy training (mainly ropes and horses), while the other shows us the shooting of a dangerous scene that involves star Armie Hammer atop a large platform. There’s not much to them, but for quick behind the scenes looks, they’re a semi-interesting watch.

Also in this package of marketing materials are two TV spots that help give you an idea of the epic scope of the film, as well as just how many gunfights and explosions there are going to be.

Rounding out this package are a multitude of pictures featuring various cast members that show, if nothing else, that the team behind the film worked quite hard to give it its distinct period look.

It may be just me, but I’m finding it a bit hard to muster up any enthusiasm for the film. First off, we’ve all heard of the production woes the film faced throughout its making, which included delays and a bloated budget. These are usually signs that things are not going particularly well for a film, but even putting that aside, it looks like it will be a mindless action film just like so many others before it.

The strange thing is, I like pretty much everyone involved with it. Director Gore Verbinski gave us three wonderful Pirates of the Caribbean films (which co-writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio worked on as well). I’ve liked almost every Johnny Depp movie I’ve seen (the one exception being his misguided interpretation of Willy Wonka). Armie Hammer gave a good breakout performance in The Social Network, while Helena Bonham Carter and Tom Wilkinson are another pair of actors who are great in just about everything they’re in.

Hopefully this one will turn out better than it’s looking. With all of this talent in and around the production, there’s got to be something worth seeing there, right? Luckily, we don’t have too much longer to wait to find out as the film finally hits theaters on July 3rd.

Check out the featurettes, TV spots, and pictures below and let us know what you think in the comments!
