BioShock Creator Ken Levine Is Writing Logan’s Run

Warner Bros. has been hard at work on a reboot of the 1976 sci-fi classic Logan's Run for a while now. The film initially had Nicolas Winding Refn attached to direct and Ryan Gosling set to star. That has since fallen apart and now, the studio has brought on Ken Levine, creative director and co-founder of Irrational Games, to write a new script for the project.

Warner Bros. has been hard at work on a reboot of the 1976 sci-fi classic Logan’s Run for a while now. The film initially had Nicolas Winding Refn attached to direct and Ryan Gosling set to star. That has since fallen apart and now, the studio has brought on Ken Levine, creative director and co-founder of Irrational Games, to write a new script for the project.

Irrational Games is, of course, the studio behind the critically acclaimed BioShock series, which is well known for its excellent storytelling and highly detailed game worlds. In fact, most critics have said that the storyline for the most recent game in the series, BioShock Infinite, is as good as anything that we’ve seen in cinemas this year.

I’m quite familiar with the BioShock series and I must say, this does sound like a perfect match. The BioShock games always present a very deep and interesting setting, one which allows for a riveting story to unfold with many colourful and fascinating characters. If Levine can do something similar for the Logan’s Run reboot, we could be in for a real treat.

For those who are unaware, the original film followed “Logan 5 (played by Michael York), a man living in a futuristic world where life is limited and when you reach the age of 30, life is terminated in a quasi-religious ceremony known as Carousel. But Logan tries to outrun his fate and live his full life with his new female friend Jessica at his side. ”

No word on yet on who will direct or star in the Logan’s Run reboot but once we hear more we’ll let you know.

Tell us, what do you think of Ken Levine taking a stab at the script?
