Evan Goldberg Talk This Is The End Sequel

One of the funniest films I've seen all year, and perhaps one of the funniest films I've seen in some time, was Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's This Is The End, an apocalyptic comedy. Receiving mostly positive reviews from critics, and doubling its production budget, it's no wonder that Sony Pictures wants a sequel and now, Rogen and Goldberg are starting to talk about the ideas they have for a second instalment.

One of the funniest films I’ve seen all year, and perhaps one of the funniest films I’ve seen in some time, was Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s This Is The End, an apocalyptic comedy. Receiving mostly positive reviews from critics, and doubling its production budget, it’s no wonder that Sony Pictures wants a sequel and now, Rogen and Goldberg are starting to talk about the ideas they have for a second instalment.

In an interview with Screen Daily, Goldberg seemed optimistic about the chances of a sequel, saying:

“If you ask me, I’d say there’s a good chance of sequel. If you ask Seth, he’d say no. So, we’ll see. We lucked out that [the cast] were all available [at the time].” While he’s not sure if could wrangle the ensemble together he said ideas have already been forming. “We actually talked about doing a sequel where it starts at the premiere of This Is the End,” Goldberg says. “Seth’s a cokehead in this version, Michael Cera is a calm dude with a boyfriend, Rihanna and The Backstreet Boys are back. We have a lot of ideas: a heaven and hell, for example, and a game of Eden version where Danny [McBride] is Adam.”

That all sounds pretty good to me and having loved the first film, I can’t wait to see what wacky and over-the-top ideas Goldberg and Rogen can come up with for the sequel. No matter how far they take it, or how meta they go, I’m sure that the end product will be something that is equally, if not more, hilarious than their first effort.
