Fifty Shades Of Grey Set For August 2014 Release

Now that there’s a director set, Focus Features is pushing forward with the Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation and has given the film an August 1st, 2014 release date.

If that date sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the same day that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will touch down. Not that it should matter, as Marvel’s offering will attract a much different crowd than Fifty Shades will. Still, it’ll be interesting to see the two big releases go head to head at the box office.

With a release date now set, and a director locked in, all heads turn towards casting. Rumours upon rumours upon rumours have been circling the web with just every good looking actor/actress aged 25-30 being linked to the roles of billionaire Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele.

Of course, given the subject material (it’s an extremely graphic erotic novel), any actor who signs on will be taking a bit of a gamble with his/her career, which is probably why we still haven’t heard anything in regards to casting yet. It’s no doubt a big role, but it’s a risky one and one that many stars may shy away from.

That being said, with the release date just over a year away, we can expect to hear casting news hopefully within the next month or two, I’d imagine. In the meantime, tell us, who do you want to see star in Fifty Shades of Grey?
