Bond 24 Gets A Release Date And Possibly A Title

After the massive success of Skyfall, it seemed almost certain that the producers would want to bring Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes back together for at least one more film. After all, the 23rd Bond film is the highest grossing of all time in 007's home country, and it did pretty well worldwide too, raking in over $1 billion worldwide. The only real question was how soon would we get to see MI6's finest on the big screen again for Bond 24. Today we have that answer, as the official James Bond Twitter account sent out 2015 release dates for the next film.

With the massive success of Skyfall, it seemed almost certain that the producers would want to reunite Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes for at least one more film. After all, the 23rd Bond film is the highest grossing of all time in 007’s home country, and it did pretty well worldwide too, raking in over $1 billion. The only real question was how soon would we get to see MI6’s finest on the big screen again in Bond 24. Today we have that answer, as the official James Bond Twitter account sent out a 2015 release date for the next film.

The film will release first in the UK on October 23rd, 2015 and then hop across the pond a few days later on November 6th. A 2015 release date means we’re waiting another three years between films, which is a bit longer than usual for Bond. Between Quantum Of Solace and Skyfall there were four years, but considering 007 had 23 films in his first 50 years, the average wait is much shorter than that. There’s word that this delay may be because of scheduling conflicts for Mendes, who originally was adamant that he wouldn’t be back for another Bond film, despite directing the most financially successful one of all time.

There’s also word that the film may be titled Devil May Care. Bond fans might recognize that title from the 2008 novel by Sebastian Faulks, which was written in honor of the 100th anniversary of 007 creator Ian Fleming’s birth. The novel is set in 1967 and is supposed to serve as a sequel to The Man With The Golden Gun.

I say that may be the title purely because this hasn’t been publicly confirmed by anyone involved with the film. Until we have that confirmation, take this title with a grain of salt, but it at least hints at where the story could possibly be headed.

What do you think of this release date and possible title for Bond 24? For those who’ve read Devil May Care, do you think it would make for a good sequel to Skyfall? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
