If there is absolutely one thing that you cannot fault director Christopher Nolan for, it’s his ability to assemble truly stellar A-list casts for his movies. His latest, Interstellar, is shaping up to be no exception, with news that two more great thespians have been added to the already ridiculously talented cast.
As well as boasting the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Bill Irwin and Casey Affleck, it has been announced that Ellen Burstyn has signed on to the film, while The Wrap reports that former Dexter villain and Third Rock From The Sun star, John Lithgow, has also jumped on board. They are two of four new additions to the project, with the others being young upstarts Timothee Chalamet (of Homeland fame) and Mackenzie Foy (the young star who played Renesmee, the immortal offspring of Bella and Edward, in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2).
Naturally, of course, like all things Nolan, all roles are being kept firmly under lock and key, so it seems that we’ll just have to settle for the simple one line synopsis that was released and continue with any amount of speculating, as is the way these days. But with a cast that boasts this much talent, it’s hard not to get just a tad bit excited. The film could be about giant fluffy bunny rabbits for all I care.
Written by Christopher Nolan, along with his brother Jonathan Nolan, Interstellar utilizes ideas originated by physicist Kip Thorne to weave a “complex and multi-layered” story of a “heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest borders of our scientific understanding.” Kip Thorne also serves as a technical consultant on the film. If you haven’t already, then I firmly suggest you put this one down on your list of most anticipated movies of 2014.
Interstellar is expected to be released on November 7th, 2014.
