Studio representatives are never too far when film festivals are going down, and SXSW is no different. IFC Midnight has won the rights to distribute the festival’s biggest hit Kill List.

Written by Wheatley and Amy Jump and starring Neil Maskell, Michael Smiley, and MyAnna Buring, the film is about “a mentally scarred ex-soldier turned contract killer (Maskell) pressured by his partner Gal (Smiley), into taking a new assignment. The film follows as they descend into the dark, disturbing world of the contract, Jay begins to unravel once again – his fear and paranoia sending him deep into the heart of darkness.”

In the official press release, Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films, said: “Our team was blown away by ‘Kill List.” It is a relentless, stylish, brilliantly directed journey into darkness that confirms Ben Wheatley as a major director. This is a film that is destined to be discussed for years and we are honored to begin the conversation with audiences across the country. We are happy to be working with our friends at Protagonist, Warp X and Film4 once again.
