Sit down and take a deep breath Star Wars fans, Latino Review is bringing us some HUGE news today as they’re reporting that Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling are wanted for Star Wars: Episode VII. Furthermore, they’re telling us that Leonardo DiCaprio was offered a role but passed on it. Don’t worry, we’ll give you a minute to digest all of that.
Ready to proceed? Ok, here we go.
Here’s what we know so far. Efron is testing for an unknown role and apparently, Gosling is auditioning for Luke Skywalker’s son. We’re told that more concrete casting details will come at us next month but for now, Disney is seriously looking into both of the aforementioned actors. Additionally, we’re hearing that despite previous reports, J.J. Abrams will not leave the film in favor of directing Star Trek 3. He just may only direct Episode VII, and not any others.
Finally, Latino Review throws in the fact that Disney offered Leonardo DiCaprio a role in the film but he turned it down in order to do another project, the sci-fi flick Robotech. Again, no details on the role that the mouse house wanted him for but it’s an interesting tidbit of trivia nonetheless.
This is all very exciting and it looks like Disney is going after the biggest names in Hollywood for their upcoming film. And why wouldn’t they? I’m sure that almost every actor and actress out there is lining up to star in this one, Disney certainly has options. While I could see why they would want Gosling and DiCaprio, I don’t get the Zac Efron thing. Sure, he’s a big hit with the ladies but he’s not exactly a great actor and I really can’t see him in a Star Wars film. Then again, I have a hard time imagining Gosling in a galaxy far, far away as well. Ryan Gosling with a lightsaber? Hmmmm.
Tell us, what do you think of all this? Do you want to see Ryan Gosling and/or Zac Efron join Star Wars: Episode VII.
