No Country For Sam Rockwell In New Trailer For A Single Shot

A few years ago, a little film by the name of No Country For Old Men swept the nation, winning just about every award a film can win with the story of a blue-collar man stumbling upon a fortune that other, more dangerous men seek. A few years ago, a little film by the name of No Country For Old Men swept the nation, winning just about every award a film can win with the story of a blue-collar man stumbling upon a fortune that other, more dangerous men seek. Later this summer, A Single Shot will revisit that theme, pitching Sam Rockwell against a group of criminals after he discovers their money through a fatal accident.

The similarities between the two films are striking, but based on how well received the former was, and the fact that the latter has Sam Rockwell in its corner, A Single Shot will most likely be a hit. It’s already made a splash at the Tribeca Film Festival, and after its release on iTunes on August 20th, it might find an even larger audience. A limited theatrical run will begin a month later on September 20th.

Joining Rockwell, the cast will also include William H. Macy, Jason Isaacs, Kelly Reilly, Joe Anderson and Jeffrey Wright. If you haven’t heard of this indie thriller before now, be sure to check out the plot summary below as well as the new trailer and let us know if you think A Single Shot will be a worthwhile thriller.

David M. Rosenthal’s white-knuckle thriller starts with a bang: a single shot, aimed at a lone deer, that hits and kills a young woman. The hunter, John Moon (Sam Rockwell, SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS), watches her die before discovering a box of money near her body. In a desperate panic, he takes the cash — hiring a low-rent lawyer (William H. Macy, FARGO) to fight his wife’s (Kelly Reilly, FLIGHT) divorce suit — and attempts to cover up the killing. But when he discovers that the money belonged to a group of hardened criminals, the hunter becomes the hunted in this tense cat-and-mouse struggle in the backwoods of West Virginia.
