Aaron Taylor-Johnson Wants To “Push The Boundaries” In Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Though not yet officially confirmed by the studio, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is certainly the frontrunner to play Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and has been for some time now. Disney is planning to hold their D23 Expo starting August 9th and while we're expecting some big announcements coming out of there, Taylor-Johnson is already speaking about his plans for the character that he may or may not be playing.

Though not yet officially confirmed by the studio, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is certainly the frontrunner to play Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and has been for some time now. Disney is preparing to hold their D23 Expo starting August 9th and while we’re expecting some big announcements coming out of there, Taylor-Johnson is already speaking about his plans for the character that he may or may not be playing.

Check out what he had to say below:

“There’s years — over 50 years — of backstory on him all there to use, and I like doing that. Him and his sister have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other,” Taylor-Johnson explains. “His sister really is his guidance — emotionally she’s the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He’s very overprotective physically — he doesn’t want anyone touching her.”

For those unfamiliar with the character of Quicksilver, he’s the son of Magento and was once a villain, joining up with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Eventually though, he joins up with the Avengers along with his sibling the Scarlet Witch, who will also be in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Taylor-Johnson goes on to say that he’s currently talking to the filmmakers about what his character will look like and what he hopes to bring to the role.

“That’s what we’re in talks about really, right now — how I could become that character and not feel forced. I might not look right with white hair, and the accent may be wrong… it just doesn’t work like that. It’s about — unless you’re Jim Carrey or Nic Cage and go ‘This is the character’, people go ‘OK, OK…’ When people haven’t been shown your range like that, then they’re a bit more skeptical — they may not want you to push the boundaries in that way,” he said. “But that’s what I’m interested in as an actor…”

The way he’s talking, it seems that he’s definitely a lock for the part, and I’m thrilled about that. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is one of the most talented young actors out there, slowly turning himself into a bonafide leading man. If he does indeed appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is all but a sure bet, he’ll move even higher up the Hollywood A-list and continue his hot streak that seems to only be getting hotter. As a big fan of the actor, I’m very excited to see what he can do in a big budget blockbuster like this.
