Set your faces to stunned! That’s the show, right? Anyway, depending on where you are in the world, either BBC America or BBC One will be airing a live Doctor Who special on Sunday. The show, called Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor, will be presented by Zoe Ball and is part of the show’s preparations for its 50th anniversary special in November.
Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor will air simultaneously across BBC America at 11 AM PT, and will be shown on BBC One in the UK simultaneously, in an effort to prevent the internet from literally exploding with nerd rage.
Previous Doctor Matt Smith played the role for four years and will be interviewed about his time on the show, as will executive producer Steven Moffat, and other past Doctors from the show. Whoever will play the new Doctor will be interviewed in the show too, and will make their official debut in this year’s Christmas special.
But who will it be? The Metro has a selection of possible candidates – the surprising current favorite is Peter Capaldi, but there are other names in the offing including Homeland’s David Harewood, Pacific Rim‘s Idris Elba, and Sheridan Smith. Peter Capaldi would make a spectacular Doctor, because he is brilliant in absolutely everything, but that’s just my opinion.
The perfect Doctor Who would be Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, scripted by Armando Iannucci. With the rest of the cast of The Thick of It thrown in. Set in the Houses of Parliament. What I’m saying is that I really miss The Thick of It.
