Is Mark Strong Going To Play Lex Luthor In Batman Vs. Superman?

Most who saw Man Of Steel noticed that although Lex Luthor never actually shows up in the movie, he was very much a part of that world. From skyscrapers to semi-trucks, almost everything was emblazoned with the LexCorp name. It doesn't seem like much of a stretch to assume Zack Snyder was setting the stage for Lex to show up in a future Superman film, possibly the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman. Because of this, casting rumors have been rampant across the web, but now a hint at who will be playing the villainous Luther is coming from one of the actors himself: Mark Strong.

Most who saw Man Of Steel noticed that although Lex Luthor never actually shows up in the movie, he is very much a part of that world. From skyscrapers to semi-trucks, almost everything was emblazoned with the LexCorp name. It doesn’t seem like much of a stretch to assume Zack Snyder was setting the stage for Lex to show up in a future Superman film, possibly even the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman. Because of this, casting rumors have been rampant across the web, but now a hint at who will be playing the villainous Luther is coming from one of the actors himself: Mark Strong.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Strong was asked if there was any truth to the rumors that he would be playing Luthor. Check out his reply below.

All I can say is… watch this space.

I honestly can’t think of many actors I would rather see in the role than Strong. He definitely looks the part, and he plays the composed, charismatic villain as well as anyone. Of course, there will be qualms from some who will bring up his role of Sinestro in 2011’s The Green Lantern, but I firmly believe the best way for Warner to put that movie in the past is to cast actors from it in new roles. Whether it is Strong as Luthor or Ryan Reynolds as The Flash, showing these new films have no continuity with Lantern could quickly wipe the memory of that film, which was overwhelmingly considered a disappointment.

Of course, Strong could just be toying with us, and really have nothing to do with the movie, at least yet, but his response certainly has me hopeful that there will be an announcement sometime in the near future.
