Coldplay Will Write An Original Song For The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

The Hunger Games had a pretty solid soundtrack, with people like Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift and Kid Cudi all contributing their talents. Granted, not every song from the soundtrack showed up in the film. In fact, most of them didn't, but the ones that did, like Taylor Swift's Safe and Sound, I really enjoyed.

The Hunger Games had a pretty solid soundtrack, with artists like Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift and Kid Cudi all contributing their talents. Granted, not every song from the soundtrack showed up in the film. In fact, most of them didn’t, but the ones that did, like Taylor Swift’s Safe and Sound, I really enjoyed.

With The Hunger Games: Catching Fire quickly approaching, we are now starting to hear about some of the artists that will be contributing to the soundtrack and the first one to be announced is Coldplay. Titled Atlas, this will be the first track that the band has ever written for a film and it will be released on August 26th.

“I have great respect and admiration for Coldplay, and we are thrilled with how well they have connected to the themes and ideas within the film. Their unwavering passion and excitement for the project elevated the collaboration even further, and we can’t wait to share this music with audiences around the world,” said director Francis Lawrence.

Coldplay is obviously one of the top bands in the world and lending their voices to the film will no doubt boost its popularity. Not that it needs a boost, I think just about everyone and their grandmother saw the first film. Still, having a big artist like Coldplay on your side can never be a bad thing and as a big fan of their music, I’m definitely looking forward to hearing Atlas.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will hit theatres on November 22nd, 2013. Tell us, are you excited to hear Coldplay’s song? Let us know in the comments below.
