Summit Entertainment Will Make A Now You See Me Sequel

Now You See Me, the magician heist film which was released earlier this year, is getting a sequel. The news comes to us from THR, who report that due to the film's $233 million worldwide gross, which it achieved on a budget of just $75 million, Summit Entertainment is going ahead with a sequel. Oh, and that $233 million isn't even counting China, Australia or Japan, where the film has yet to open.

Now You See Me, the magician heist film which was released earlier this year, is getting a sequel. The news comes to us from THR, who report that due to the film’s $233 million worldwide gross, which it achieved on a budget of just $75 million, Summit Entertainment is going ahead with a sequel. Oh, and that $233 million isn’t even counting China, Australia or Japan, where the film has yet to open.

Right now, all we know is that Summit, and their sister company Lionsgate, are developing the sequel. No word yet on a writer or director and we don’t even know if any of the main actors (Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson and Mark Ruffalo) will return.

So, now the question is, do we really need a sequel to this film? Of course, the numbers justify it but given the story of the first film and how it ended, is this really necessary?

I actually haven’t yet seen the film, so unfortunately, I can’t answer that question. That being said, it did receive mediocre to positive reviews and everyone I spoke to seemed to enjoy it, so who knows? If they take it in the right direction, and give us a worthy follow up, then a Now You See Me sequel may be able to emulate the success of the original.

Tell us, do you think that Now You See Me needs a sequel and if so, are you excited to see one? Let us know in the comments below.
