Star Wars: Episode VII Is Still Coming In 2015

Some days no news is news. One thing many were excited about at Disney's D23 expo was the Star Wars and specifically Star Wars: Episode VII news that would be coming our way. Well it turns out, other than Alan Horn's insistence that the movie will still land in theaters in 2015, no news from a galaxy far, far away will be coming out of the expo.

Some days no news becomes news. One thing many were excited about at Disney’s D23 expo was the Star Wars and specifically Star Wars: Episode VII news that would be coming our way. Well it turns out, other than Alan Horn’s insistence that the movie will still land in theaters in 2015, no news from a galaxy far, far away will be coming out of the expo.

Horn’s “news” was basically just a recap of everything we already know. J.J. Abrams is directing the movie, Michael Arndt is writing it. Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are working on spin-off films. John Williams is doing the score. Then Horn said there will be no further news. Well, thanks Alan… We’re all now so enlightened about the new movie.

At the very least many were hoping for a title reveal, so to say no news from the expo is a disappointment is a major understatement. Some fans were even prepping to critique all the casting announcements that would come from Anaheim. While I didn’t think we’d hear anything about casting, I was in the camp that assumed this would be the ideal time and place for an announcement about the title, but unless there’s a surprise coming our way today, it looks like we’re out of luck.

All that being said, it is good to hear the film is still coming in 2015. There was word that Abrams never agreed to a 2015 release, and it seemed optimistic too considering that almost none of the cast has been selected, at least as far as the public knows, but it’s nice to hear that Disney isn’t backtracking on its plans.

What do you think of no more Star Wars: Episode VII news coming out of D23? Are you at least happy about the insistence on a 2015 release date? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
