David O. Russell Considering A Russ Meyer Biopic

Talk about weighing up your options. Since the mega hit of The Fighter, David O. Russell has done nothing but add movies to his list of what he could do next, among other things, that list includes a controversial Uncharted film. Clearly that Oscar nomination is helping him a lot to get projects he may wants to make off the ground. Today Deadline has announced that he wants to, or at least is in talks to, direct a biopic about Russ Meyer.

Yes. Russ Meyer. The man famous for making essentially soft porn movies in the 60’s and 70’s. Fox Searchlight is currently trying to get the rights to a biography on his life for adaptation “Big Bosoms And Square Jaws: The Biography Of Russ Meyer, King Of The Sex Film”. Meyer is perhaps most famous for directing Beyond of the Valley of the Dolls, which was based on a script from legendary film critic Roger Ebert. I have to say the film sounds interesting and O. Russell in the past has been nothing but a fascinating provocateur, personally I can’t wait to see who they get to play Ebert.
