It had been considered and rumored for a while but now it is finally confirmed, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has joined Christopher Nolan’s conclusion to his Batman trilogy: The Dark Knight Rises. The news was broken by Variety, but the role Levitt will play has not been divulged. As usual, Nolan is being incredibly closed mouthed on details, I imagine that we won’t fully find out until we see the film. Some have pointed to Alberto Falcone, others to a League of Shadows figure.

Levitt’s inclusion in the cast marks an almost Inception reunion, Tom Hardy has been cast as Bane and Marion Cotillard may also join, could we see these people becoming Nolan regulars? Also on the casting front for the movie, Juno Temple is being considered for a role as a “street smart Gotham girl” most likely an invention by the screenwriters.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will join a cast along with Hardy as well as Anne Hathaway and regulars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. The Dark Knight Rises will open July 20th 2012.
