We haven’t heard any rumors regarding the Fifty Shades of Grey film for a while now, so it’s about time something new popped up. We already know that Sam Taylor-Johnson is set to direct, but there hasn’t anything concrete in regards to casting. Nothing has changed on that front but what we do have for you is another actor who may be in contention for the lead role.
Names like Emma Watson, Elizabeth Olsen, Alex Pettyfer, Alicia Vikander, Henry Cavill and more have all been tossed around in relation to the two starring roles in the film, but now we’re hearing that the studio has their eye on Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam, who most recently appeared in the blockbuster Pacific Rim.
Of course, this isn’t confirmed but sources close to the film say that the producers want him for the role. It would make sense too, as he has an enormous fanbase and is a big hit with the ladies. Plus, he’s actually a pretty good actor.
That being said, taking on a role like this is a huge risk and with his star already pretty high, and continuing to rise due to the success of Pacific Rim, I don’t know if it would be the best move for Hunnam to join this film.
I mean, I’m sure Fifty Shades of Grey will do well at the box office and find its way into the hearts of moms everywhere, but I can’t see it actually turning out to be a quality movie. Hunnam is a great actor and I don’t know if I want to see him associated with what is sure to be a garbage film. I’m kind of hoping this one doesn’t turn out to be true.
In other Fifty Shades of Grey news, Shailene Woodley, Felicity Jones and Alicia Vikander are all still in the running for the lead female role, according to the same source. No news on who is the frontrunner but we’ll keep you posted.
